How to Choose a Leather Archery Quiver
Back, hip or tooled? What to look for in a leather quiver before your next season.
By Synergywear / / 1 min read
The right quiver is quiet, comfortable and keeps arrows protected. Leather does all three better than most synthetics.
Back quiver or hip quiver
Back quivers carry more arrows and keep your draw arm free. They suit hunting, field archery and traditional shooting.
Hip quivers put arrows within quick reach and suit target shooting and short sessions.
Why leather
Leather dampens sound, so arrows do not rattle. It also molds to your body over time and shrugs off brush and weather when it is conditioned.
Check the details
- Thickness: thin leather collapses. Look for firm, structured hide.
- Stitching: double stitching at the seams and base.
- Base: a reinforced base protects broadheads and points.
- Strap: adjustable, with enough padding for a full day.
- Capacity: pick for the arrows you actually carry, with a little spare room.
Tooled leather
Tooling is more than looks. The pressed pattern adds grip and character, and every piece comes out a little different.
Looking after it
Brush off dirt after use, condition it a few times a year and let it dry naturally if it gets wet.
